PCJ SPORTS DAY



PCJ SPORTS DAY OUT
After the eighth of September the feast of the nativity of our lady, we moved to Nsambya Youth Sharing Centre to have a friendly sports encounter with the Youth. It was in the morning that we set off with a team of players, doctors and of course the cheering squad too. Our sports chaplain was the main leader of the two buses that carried the team. We arrived at Nsambya safely at an interval of almost an hour.  We proceeded to the dinning for break-fast and then begin the beautiful encounters as volleyball become the first match to be played, followed by basketball and then the main match, football.
Volley ball
It was the first game of the day to be played and full of excitement. Our players were preparing to verse the Nsambya team as they were warming up. Within not a long time the game started and the cheering squad was invited to support the team by moving to the closest side with hope that something great would happen, you know PCJ you are great we salute. The game started and our players looked tough and ready to win which was shut down by a serious spike from the counterpart team. We increased the noise for cheering as the team increased the strength to tighten the space for scoring points. We only realized that we could not win as they had reached twenty points when we were still under seven. The first set ended with a loss on our side. The second set also went in the same suit as we could maintain the strength of the guys. We ended up losing the game four sets to zero. But we know these people are more trained than us because it is their profession as we concentrate on books and sports at the same time sports. Courage members we shall do better.
Basketball
The second game was basketball and we proved worthy a win. It started with little boys entering the court and we felt undermined but I hope it was a trick because we started with the same trick. The little boys of about twelve years proved stronger when they scored three point baskets three times. It was no more time for jokes and we brought in our senior players like Alex, Magufuli, Samuel and Eric and proved them tougher than they knew. We could hear them yell as our senior players could enter the court “akasaja kakomyewo” (the man has come back) because the scoring was serious and tough. For this game we proved senior and so won it by 35 points to 32.

Football
For this part I was also scared at the game with the traumatic experience of the last time they visited us. They said that they eat football; drink football and sleep in football while for us are always in philosophy and social sciences. We always wonder whether things are real like Hegel and accuse people of lacking free will like Nietzsche. We were now playing against the men in their hobby like fighting a monkey in a tree. But men remain men, the couch told us not to fight for a win but for a good game which we did. The game was beautifully played as Fr. Anthony and Sr. Pauline were couching and encouraging the players seriously. Indeed we scored our goal of having a good game though they scored two goals. The game ended with a win position though favored the counterparts because they had the most goals. For us we won because we went to play well and indeed we played well. Great thanks to our couches and the players for the effort put in.
This day had a lot of beautiful experiences and some challenges of losses but we also won happiness and learning more tactics. We would like to appreciate the work done by the sports secretary, the sports chaplain Fr. Anthony and the whole team that sacrificed their time and energy for this day.
