PCJ Openning Day

On the 9th of January, the first ninth of January ever in 2017, we opened a new semester of the academic year 2016-2017. It started with mass as usual, animated by the missionaries of Africa (M.Afr) and the mass celebrated by Rev. Fr. Arsen Kapya M.Afr the rector of the Formation House of Missionaries of Africa (Lavigerie House). The homily was given by Rev. Fr. Yago Abeledo M.Afr and of course the choir was of Lavigerie House (specifically the students). The opening mass was chanted with lively songs and a lively, practical homily.

The 9th of January being a Monday after the Epiphany on 8th, it was the feast of the baptism of the Lord Jesus Christ. In his homily, Fr. Yago reflected on the belovedness of our Lord Jesus as God the Fther revealed it to Jesus after baptism which we also share. He also used the reflections of Henri Nouwen, taken, blessed, broken and given, where he talked of our being chosen by God, broken with troubles of the world, but blessed and given to the world to accompany. He also talked of the fact of being chosen not meaning that others are not chosen; therefore, we should recognize others as the chosen ones of God also. He ended by offering this new semester to God such that it can be fruitful.

On the same day, our PCJ student’s life blog was introduced officially to the PCJ family by the editors of the blog. The rector also welcomed us back to the new semester in the New Year and continued to ask us for our commitment in this new semester. He also thanked the Chaplain of the blog editors (Fr. Yago) for the effort put in to make this blog exist and so asked for the co-operation of the students.

I also take this opportunity to welcome you to this new semester and so ask you for your co-operation for our family. We can do that also by supporting this blog with articles to be published. Happy New Year, God bless you, God loves you.
